Printing is possible at a maximum resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi for detailed imagery and the MX492 can produce up to 8.8 ipm in black & white or 4.4 ipm in color. Also, borderless printing is possible and it can create a borderless 4 x 6" photo in about 70 seconds.
Through the use of the 8.5 x 11.7" flatbed or the 20-sheet automatic document feeder, the MX492 can scan documents at up to 2400 x 1200 dpi. This system also enables color copying at a rate of 3.6 ipm as well as faxing. For producing detailed images, the MX492 utilizes a 4-color hybrid ink system with dye-based color ink and a pigment-based black ink for sharp text. Also, it has a 100-sheet input tray for standard paper.
